Nach dem Text Ibn Botlans sind diese kalt und feucht im zweiten Grad. Am besten solle man frische und grüne nehmen, die den Durst löschen, allerdings aber auch abführend wirken. Dagegen helfen Salzwasser und Senf. Sie erzeugen mäßigen und kalten Nährstoff und sind besonders für Choleriker und Jugendliche verträglich. Dies gilt allgemein im Sommer, aber besonders in südlichen Gegenden
