DeskrivadurPachelbel.jpg
English: Johann Christoph Pachelbel portrait, circa 1748.
Important usage note: all indications are that this is notJohann Pachelbel (the famous composer best known in modern times for the composition, Canon in D [though it's possible he's a relative]). The composer died in 1706, 42 years before the date the sketch itself provides internally, as placed by its unknown 18th century author.
Additionally, despite his fame and the existence of contemporaneous writings about him during his lifetime, no source has been located indicating the composer had the middle name "Christoph" (or even a mention of him with a middle initial "C").
Be very circumspect when looking at external sources that use this image, or one of the other versions of it also found on the Wikimedia Commons, as in any way proving this is indeed the composer, as hundreds of uses on the Internet of this image proliferated by the false association previously provided on this page, and the other versions at other files name here.
