18 AR denarii to AD 59

Reece Period 3: Neroian

BM ref.: 2012 T436

PAS ref.: HESH-F18E50

Circumstances of discovery

Found by a metal detectorist on a slight raised and flattened plateau at one end of a field that had been heavily disturbed through cultivation. The coins were spread over a considerable distance (c. 80 metres square) and found piecemeal over a period of about 6 months. Several of the coins are broken, probably as a result of modern cultivation. There is a high probability of a further discovery of coins at this site, although these are likely to be small in number - and may include parts of the broken coins reported herein.
