National Weather Service personnel from Aberdeen, South Dakota have been actively involved with their community. This summer they participated in the annual Brown County Fair at the Aberdeen Fairgrounds. The booth was shared with Brown County Emergency Management and the Community Emergency Response Team. In October they hosted an Open House featuring tours and explanations of the forecast process, watches and warnings issuance, NOAA Weather Radio, electronics equipment, weather balloons, and Doppler radar. Brown County Emergency Management also participated in the event by displaying and giving tours of their Incident Command Trailer, which is available for deployment to any incident including possible devastating severe weather events.
