Inthe last-named instance it will be seen that the morenormal form of outwork is replaced by a circular moundbefore each gateway. Both at Kreiginthorpe and at ReyCross the remains are those of stations rather than ofcamps, and as a rule the gates of stations liad in realityno such outworks. Such a camp was very easily constructed, the moreso as tlie tendency was increasingly towards economyof space and the crowding of larger numbers withinsmaller areas. There were hands enough available tomake the work light and expeditious.
