English: Often called "Leonora", Eleonora di Garzia di Toledo should not be confused with the Eleonora di Toledo who married Cosimo I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Both were from the Spanish House of Toledo which ruled the kingdoms of Naples and Sicily as viceroys for Philip II of Spain. Leonora's husband, Don Pietro de' Medici, was a son of the older Eleonora and Cosimo. Leonora was known for her vivacity and for her affairs. Pietro strangled her with a dog leash for her adultery, with the approval of his brother, Francesco I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany. (Reference: Caroline P.
